myFamilySpace (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by Hermann Cardenas, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the myFamilySpace mobile application and related services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: name, email address, and date of birth (optional)
- Family data: family membership, events, chores, shopping lists, and messages you create within the app
- Location data: GPS coordinates, only when you explicitly opt in to family location sharing
- Device information: device type, operating system, push notification token
- Mobile phone number: collected when you opt in to SMS notifications
2. SMS / Text Message Notifications
By opting in to SMS notifications, you agree to receive text messages from myFamilySpace, including:
- Event and schedule reminders
- Chore assignments and updates
- Family invitation and RSVP confirmations (including links to confirm)
- Shopping list and grocery updates
Message frequency varies based on your family’s activity. Message and data rates may apply.
To opt out at any time, reply STOP to any message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at support@myfamilyspace.app.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of mobile opt-in data described in this policy — including the consent itself — are excluded from any third-party sharing. Your number is used solely to send you notifications you have opted in to receive. See our Messaging Policy for full details.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the myFamilySpace service
- To send you notifications, reminders, and alerts you have opted in to
- To enable family coordination features (location sharing, messaging, chores)
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Within your family: Information you add (events, lists, chores) is visible to family members you have invited
- Service providers (sub-processors): We use Supabase (database/auth), Twilio (SMS delivery), Resend (transactional email), and Expo (push notifications) to operate the service. These providers process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users
5. Location Data
Location sharing is opt-in and family-controlled. You can enable or disable it at any time in the app’s settings. Location data is only shared with members of your family group and is not used for advertising.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the app’s Profile settings or via our account deletion page, which will remove your personal data from our systems within 30 days.
7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
myFamilySpace is intended for families. A child under 13 participates only through an account created and managed by a parent or guardian within that family’s group. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent; the parent or guardian provides that consent and controls the child’s data.
For a child in a family, we collect only the information needed for family coordination (such as a display name, chores, events, and messages within the family). We do not use children’s data for advertising or behavioral profiling, and a child’s data is visible only within their family group. Text messaging is age-gated in the app and requires guardian permission.
A parent or guardian may review a child’s information, refuse further collection, or request deletion at any time by emailing support@myfamilyspace.app or using our account deletion page. We do not condition a child’s participation on disclosing more information than is reasonably necessary.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), row-level security on all database access, and secure authentication via Supabase Auth.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
